Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed
The Office

The Office of Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed

Four kinds of work are handled from the same office: legal practice, the duties of party office, correspondence from the public, and press. They are separated here so that a letter reaches the right desk.

The office handles four distinct kinds of work. Addressing a letter to the right one is the fastest way to be answered.

Legal

Chambers

Instructions in constitutional, criminal and administrative matters. Dr Jameel practises law; the office receives instructions, conflicts are checked before anything is discussed, and nothing is treated as a retainer until it is confirmed in writing.

Party

Party office

Duties arising from the office of Vice President of the People's National Front: party business, branch and membership matters, and appearances at party events.

Public

Correspondence

Letters from members of the public, from islands and from Maldivians abroad. Every message received through this site is logged and given a reference number.

Press

Press and interviews

Requests from broadcasters, newspapers and researchers. State the outlet, the subject and the deadline; recorded interviews are arranged through the office rather than directly.

How a matter is brought

Before you write

I

Bringing a legal matter

Write first rather than telephoning. Set out who you are, who else is involved, what has happened and by what date something must be done. Do not send original documents. The office will say whether the matter can be taken before any advice is given, and a conflict check comes before anything else.

II

Requesting a meeting

Use the meeting request form. Say who will attend, what is to be discussed and how long you expect to need. A reference number is issued immediately; quote it in any follow-up.

III

Press deadlines

Send the deadline in the first line. Requests without one are answered in the order they arrive.

IV

What the office cannot do

The office does not give legal advice by email, does not comment on matters before the courts, and does not intervene in cases in which Dr Jameel is not instructed.

Where to write

Reaching the office

The forms on the front page are the fastest route: both are received here and held in the site's own record, and a reference number is issued as soon as one is sent.

No postal address or telephone number has been published yet. Until one is, the forms below are the way to reach the office.

Correspondence received here is held in the site's own record and read by the office. It is not a substitute for service of process, and sending it creates no professional relationship.
